About The Academy

Where research, history, economics, and policy converge

Mission Statement

The Academy exists to democratize knowledge by making complex policy, economic, and historical analysis accessible to a wider public—especially to those most affected by it. As a student-led micro think tank, we are committed to producing rigorous, research-driven work that connects the dots between policy, theory, and history. Through this, we aim to equip a new generation with the clarity, context, and critical tools needed to engage with—and influence—the systems that shape their lives.

OUR APPROACH

  • Thematic foundations (Political Economy, Global Trade, Finance, History).

  • Methodology: Our work draws on past research, primary policy documents, and archives to ensure policy analyses grounded in history, economies, and politics. We engage critically with scholarly debates while grounding our insights in contemporary relevance. We further consult our Research Council (insert hyperlink to research council page), composed of eminent personalities who advise us on matters of content, framing, and intellectual direction.

FOUNDER'S NOTE

A short note on the solo-led yet professional nature of the project.

  • How is The Academy different from other think tanks?
Our audience isn’t limited to policymakers or academics—we write for teenagers, MUN participants, aspiring civil servants, and anyone curious about how the world works. We strip away jargon, reject exclusivity, and embrace the idea that policy should be democratic, not elitist.
  • Can I join The Academy or collaborate in any way?
Yes! You can join as a research associate, participate in collaborative writing, or provide expert input.
  • Where are your publications released, and how often?
We publish monthly. The number of articles varies depending on the theme and its complexity. All work is released digitally across our website and Substack.
  • How are topics selected each month?
We choose themes based on urgent current events that call for deeper historical and theoretical analysis. Reader suggestions via email and regular newsletter surveys also shape our editorial direction.
  • Who can contribute to The Academy?
Every two months, we enroll a new cohort of research associates. Anyone passionate about policy, history, or economics is welcome to apply.
  • Do you take suggestions for future themes?
Absolutely. We actively encourage topic suggestions through our email, social media channels, and monthly newsletter surveys.
  • How do you ensure the credibility of your research?
Our work is grounded in primary documents, academic literature, and historical archives. We also consult our Research Council—comprising eminent scholars and professionals—for guidance and validation.
  • Can your work be cited in academic or policy research?
Yes. Each article includes proper citation information. Our content is research-grounded and suitable for reference in academic and professional contexts.
  • Do I need to be a policy expert to engage with your work?
Not at all. You can suggest a theme for our next issue via email, or apply to become a research associate after a brief interview round.
